CONDITION: B+ Linen Mounted left corner has a fold, beautiful condition
for its age and size. and unobtrusive unless scrutinized. Behind a frame all
will go unnoticed as the artwork stands very strong. A beautiful and clean original poster.
NOTE: This is great early piece of music ephemera. Frank Horton & Co. Elkhorn
Wisconsin Tuba, trumpets, french horn, clarinet, trombone, flute and drums,
all inclusive in this artistic poster advertisement for Holton band instruments.
Frank Holton opened his Chicago shop in 1898. Formerly first trombonist
| in the band of John Phillip Sousa, Holton achieved success with his
revolutionary slide oil formula, Electric Oil, which is still popular today. By 1900,
the Frank Holton Company was producing several models of trombones, cornets,
trumpets and euphoniums, as well as percussion instruments. The company continued to
expand, and in 1917 Holton moved his company to Elkhorn, Wisconsin. It is America’s
oldest continually operating wind instrument company. Wiki says: Holton is a division
of Leblanc, Incorporated (a division of Conn Selmer), and is Leblanc's trumpet, trombone,
horn, and euphonium line. Holton was founded in 1896 by Frank Holton, a first trombonist
under John Phillip Sousa, and was purchased by Leblanc in 1964. Holton produces horns
under the labels of Holton, Farkas, Merker, and Collegiate.

The poster promotes Teamwork and depicts a marching band with drums, drum, drumming
and a majorette. "All in Step All in time, Teamwork Harmony is the message". These posters may
have been directed toward youth education. This was put out during the WPA Works Progress Administration
years, depression era in the US to further the incentive of American children. It was first
published in 1929 during the fall of Wall street, and then again in 1937.

We also see a striking pack of Wrigley's Juicy Fruit Chewing Gum illustrated in the style of artist/illustrator Otis Shepard. Otis Shepard was a commercial artist from Kansas. Shepard lived in San Francisco, California in 1914 and for 31 years was art director for Wrigley Gum. This is a beautiful Wrigley horizontal piece, very clean. Beautiful and ready for framing!

NOTE: This smaller American food and beverage poster is a colorful horizontal poster.
It would make a great addition to any kitchen or restaurant . Also printed on the poster in smaller
print is "Trade Mark Reg. U.S. Patent". The poster depicts a smiling woman with a steaming cup of
hot chocolate in her hand, and a shiny glass quart bottle of Dari Rich nearby. It is suggesting that
the reader serve the chocolate hot at mealtime. A great American advertising poster image,

NOTE: This poster was designed by Jean Carre, an important illustrator. Here we see his
work in design for the May cover of the magazine "Outing" of 1896. Outing was a
late-nineteenth- and early twentieth-century magazine which included a variety of
sporting activities and outdoor stories. It began publication in 1882 first called the
Wheelman. It had four title changes before ending publication in 1923. Here we see
depicted a lovely romantic scene of a woman playing her guitar while sailing on a sailboat.

NOTE: Depicted in this fine printed drawing is a Native American Indian dancing in the moonlight in
full dress holding holly in his left hand and a peace pipe in the right hand, a very beautiful and sensitive image.
The Inland printer was a very successful
magazine at the turn of the century and is still exists in Chicago. It is now known as the American Printer
and Lithographer. The Inland Printer promoted new ideas and technology that were influencing the
popular arts of the times. Among the many well known illustrators to work for The Inland Printer
were Will Bradley, his illustrations mark the beginning of the Art Nouveau movement in the graphic arts.
The artist J.C. Leyendecker, was probably the most famous of the artists who did illustrative works for
The Inland Printer. The journal began in 1883 as a 24 page publication in Chicago and by 1900,
was a 200 page monthly magazine. We are fortunate to have this original poster which promoted
the cover of the original magazine in our collection. Beautiful and ready for framing!

CONDITION: A, Linen Mounted, Machine folded in half as many posters were for distribution.
NOTE: Louis Rhead (1857-1926)worked as an artist from the late 19th to early 20th century.
He was born and educated in England and Paris before emigrating to New York in 1883.
He spent most of his career in New York. He was a versatile artist and book illustrator.
He also illustrated for other important magazines in the mid-1890's, such as Century,
Scribner's and The Bookman. He designed many posters for the New York Sun and
Morning Journal newspapers. After 1900, Rhead worked primarily as a book illustrator.
Among the many books he illustrated are Swiss Family Robinson, Gulliver's Travels,
Treasure Island and Heidi. Here we see a delicate side to his work in an American
Art Nouveau style. Beautiful and ready for framing!

professionally 3 inch right side upper horizontal tear, apparent upon close
scrutinizing only, will be much less apparent under framed glass. A beautiful piece!
NOTE: This delicately designed poster by the artist Wall, depicts a young woman
reading by the seaside. The design is an example of the American Art Nouveau style.
The poster was an advertisement for Scribner's Magazine, an early American Journal.
This issue's cover poster was to promote mid-summer fiction reading. Scribner's Monthly
was a magazine first published in 1870, merging with the second incarnation of Putnam's Magazine,
and was printed until 1881, when it was replaced by The Century Magazine.

NOTE: Early on, General Electric used the name Mazda on their lamps and then created
manufacturing specifications that all American lamp makers could adhere, they standardized
light bulbs in the United States. The art work is very good and the image is tender and finely
printed by a well known printing house, The Otis Litho Company. The Otis Litho Co. is known for
its high standard of quality printing and was regularly used by the film industry to produce
early movie posters. This wonderful image despite some of the folds showing at close observation,
is a gem to have in the collection. RARE, uncommon, We have never seen or had this before, and a
wonderful early American antique Advertising horizontal piece. Beautiful and ready for framing!

throughout towns across the US in the early 20th century. Pageants were a civil celebration which
included acting out dramatic episodes from their own town`s history. An elaborate piece of poster

NOTE: The illustrator of this original poster is well known by many especially those in California.
Joseph Jacinto “Jo” Mora was born in 1876 in Montevideo, Uruguay. He came to the United States, the family settled in New York.
Mora studied art in the New York and Boston, at the Art Student's League in New York and the Cowles School in Boston.
He studied with William Merritt Chase. In Boston, he worked as a cartoonist for a newspaper called the Boston Traveler
and then worked for the Boston Herald. As you can see by this poster his attention to detail won him many praises.
The color is vibrant and the condition is excellent. The date printed in the border adds a nice touch as well
as the publication mark. The text on the poster is hand designed and the illustrations are of horses, saddles,
spurs, cowboy types such as Spanish types, buckaroos, to modern show types. Text and illustrations include
rodeo language, cowboy, cowboys, different horse saddle types, roping and tying, bull riding, and much more.
This poster is in excellent colorful condition. Beautiful, RARE and ready for framing!
