Lippincott’s Monthly Magazine was a 19th century literary magazine, published from 1886 to 1915 in Philadelphia. Although he studied in Paris, William Carqueville was from Chicago and spent most of his life there. He founded his own lithographic press there and designed posters for Lippincott`s as well as other American literary magazines. His style was influenced by another excellent American poster artist, Edward Penfield. Literary posters can be framed very simply or very elegantly to match any room style. A beautiful early original signed vintage American literary piece depicting a Victorian age women on the deck of an early steamer ship or ocean liner, waving! We only have this one.
