NOTE: On Sunday October 10, 1897 this parlor print was circulated as a supplement to The Philadelphia Press. Parlor prints were very popular during the Victorian era sometimes with small text advertising who presented it as a form of advertising as we see here. A great way to sell early newspapers!

The Philadelphia Press (The Press) was published from 1857 to 1920, and was founded by John W. Forney. Charles Emory Smith was editor and owned a stake in the paper from 1880 to his death in 1908. This parlor print depicts a girl holding a small bouquet of flowers while her early wooden row boat is beached on land with sea gulls flying around her. Near her is a springlike pink flowering tree. Its wonderful small size makes it easy to frame. The words “Sweet Reverie” is printed in the center bottom border. A beautiful small original America litho and ready for framing. We only have this one and have never seen it before.
