Jean Carlu originally began training as an architect and then became a commercial artist. During the 1920`s and 1930`s he was a leading figure in French poster design. He later designed posters in the United States as this one in the 1940`s with his almost cubist style, the matador, and the bullfighter. Pan American Airways, Pan Am, was famous for its Clipper airplanes and this is a great travel poster for their Clipper line.
