1930's Carroll Snell Dairyman's League Vintage Milk Poster 1930's Carroll Snell Dairy Camel Poster is SOLD OUT!
1930's Caroll Snell Vintage Poster Print
This is a wonderful scene showing 4 Egyptian camels, including a baby camel and two nomads in the desert of Egypt. The advertising line reads “The Camel Feeds the Caravan” and it was produced by the Dairymen`s League Cooperative Association in New York.
The artist is Carroll Clifford Snell (born 1893), who became well known as an American art deco artist and book illustrator. It is signed Carroll Snell in bottom right. We have 3 old original Dairymen’s league posters, all found together,
numbers 533, 525 and 524.
Condition is B, freshly linen mounted, with some creasing and touch up. You can see creasing in photograph (horizontal lines) across bottom of camel`s feet. It’s unobtrusive and adds to the charm of the poster. We have included extra photos. There is creasing across bottom border in black also.
The poster displays beautifully and is a great little historical dairy piece, produced to enhance farm production. The Dairymen's League was started in 1907, by a group of dairy farmers in Orange County, New York. They united to increase milk bargaining power and formed one of the country`s first food cooperatives – The Dairymen's League. By the 1920s, the Cooperative's membership had grown to more than 100,000 farms.
See others in this beverage series on our site. This one has beautiful color tone, and the exotic Egyptian desert camel scene shows beautiful sensibility, color and WPA era artwork. A nice little historical piece. The poster is archivally linen backed and ready for framing. We only have this one.
