This wonderful pictorial map was printed in the late twenties before the stock market crash of 1929. The hand printed graphic typography text is blocky and modern, with a WPA era art deco feel to it, illustrated by 2 fine map artists. Beneath many of the larger cities, we see factual information pertinent to local history, mentioning The Fox Sisters, Frederick Douglass, Canandaigua, Millard Fillmore, Finger lakes, Watkins, Chautauqua, Newburgh, Poughkeepsie, Stony Point, Burgoynes, lake Champlain, Fort Ticonderoga, Watertown, Ogdensburg, Palmyra and the Book of Mormon area, Erie Canal, Hudson River, New Lebanon Home of the Shakers, Philipse Manor, Battle of Long Island Revolutionary War Battlefields, Manhattan island, Albany history, Hudson Valley, Adirondack Mountain history, Indian tribes, Mohawk Valley, Oneida Community, Ithaca and Cornell 1865, William H. Seward, Auburn, Onondaga, Iroquois, first settlements, the Erie Canal, treaties, and much, much more.
There are magnified inset views of Niagara and Niagara Falls area, Old New York City, as well as a magnified view of the two great rivers; the Mohawk and the Hudson near the Albany, Massachusetts and Vermont lines.
