The Saturday Evening Post is a American magazine, started in 1897 and still in existence. It was monumental in its use of American illustrators on the famous covers, and exposing these designers and art to the American public, from Norman Rockwell, to John Falter, to JC Leyendecker to NC Wyeth  and many more.

This poster is by well known artist Mead Schaeffer (1898-1980), an American illustrator active from the teens to middle 20th century. Born in Freedom Plains, New York, in 1898, Schaeffer grew up in Springfield, Massachusetts. He is well known as a book illustrator and commercial artist/illustrator.

The image is a stunning scene of parents bringing their WWII WW2 sailor navy boy son home the ranch. Mead Schaeffer was on holiday when he witnessed this scene while viewing rock formations at Lone Pine. He thus starting sketching and came up with this cover. It is named "Sailor Comes Home To Mountain Ranch" by the Saturday Evening Post.

An inset square reveals the content of the magazine, "The Air Force Gives Birth to a Miracle" by Wesley Price, and "Kansas City" by George Sessions Perry.

We only have this one, although we are excited to present other Saturday Evening Post Posters as well. Freshly linen backed, beautiful and ready for framing. Amazing art.
