Harper's Magazine was first created in June 1850 by the book publishing firm Harper & Brothers. The earliest issues consisted largely of published British material and soon after, the magazine printed the work of American artists, illustrators and writers. Penfield, was born 1866 and died in 1925. In 1894 he produced a series of monthly images for Harper's magazine. His style was influenced by Japanese prints, hand-craftsmanship of the Arts and Crafts movement, and the impressionistic approach of Paris, France and French poster European design. Penfield`s signature is printed on this poster at the bottom right. The poster is archivally linen backed and ready for framing. We only have this one.
