Thisold opera poster is a beautifully printed lithograph with a painterly quality. It depicts a scene from Monna Vanna 4 Acte et 5 Tableaux. The playwright was Count Maurice Polydore Marie Bernard Maeterlinck (1862-1949). He was a Belgian poet, playwright, and essayist writing in French, and awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1911. The main themes in his work are death and the meaning of life.
