This graphic yellow & black antique tobacco poster is a wonderful piece of American advertising. It was printed to advertise Richardson's Old North State five cent tobacco in a linen bag. Text on poster reads: "Old North State Smoking Tobacco, Big Bag 5¢" The cotton tobacco bag label reads: "Made from the best grade of domestic leaf, Old North State Smoking Tobacco, Original Manufacturer only by R.P. Richardson Jr. & Co., Inc., Brown, Williamson Tobacco Corp, Successor, Louisville Kentucky."
The horizontal format suggests use as an insert in trolley, train or bus advertising although it also could be a general store piece. It is beautiful and ready for framing. We have never seen this poster before in our travels, and only have this one.
