CONDITION: A- Linen Mounted, very minor wrinkles, unobtrusive unless closely scrutinized, displays beautifully, an absolutely beautiful poster.
This wonderful dramatic poster was printed for the Chemin de Fer or “Road of Iron”, the French Railroad or Railway. French railroad posters are some of the more beautiful of the travel posters and often done by important artists. It was printed in France by the French National Railways. It has designated logos on either side of the text “Rouen”, and reads Chemins de fer and Syndicat D`initiative. Bottom left reads la cour dalbane, or the Albane Court.
This impressive building is in Rouen France. Rouen was occupied by England 1418-1449 and is the site of the trial & execution of Joan of Arc 1431. It is also the site of famous 13th century Gothic cathedral. Today it is the home of the Joan of Arc Museum. A beautiful original French antique travel poster. The poster is archivally linen backed and ready for framing. We only have this one.
