1940's Original Antique Store Music Sign for
Red Seal Victor Recording artist Erica Morini
This is a rare Victor recording artist sign for classical violinist Erica Morini, born Erika Morini in Vienna in 1904 and died in NYC in 1995. wiki says: "Her American début at New York in January of 1921, was one of the musical sensations of the year, and since then she performed in the United States often, both in recital and with the foremost orchestras. She resided in New York after 1938, and began spelling her first name Erica. Morini is believed to be the last surviving classical musician who made acoustic Red Seal Records for the Victor Talking Machine Company."
Erica Morini played a Stradivarius violin called the Davidoff, named after a famous Russian cellist. It was found by her father in a Paris shop in 1924. Sadly, at age 91, while in the hospital, the famous violin was stolen from her home in NYC. She was not aware of the theft when she died a short while later.
This is an original and large point of purchase music store or record store advertising sign. Erica Morini recorded on the classical red seal label. It is a cardboard standup, the back stand has never been opened, is unused. There is about 4 inches of black color touch up in her hair, hard to see, yet visible if closely scrutinized (see poster photos). This is exactly how the poster was found.
There is very mild softness on corner tips, condition is quite beautiful and presumabley taken from an oil portrait painting of Ms. Morini. It would be absolutely beautiful framed.
The poster shows Erica playing her famous Strad violin and text reads:
Erica Morini, Exclusive Victor Red Seal Recording Artist
The size is a large 15 x 20 inches, with a printed "Litho in USA" mark in lower right corner. You may watch Erica Morini playing her strad on you tube, she was an amazing energy.
The poster is ready for framing. We have never seen another in our poster travels, and only have this one. Great for a music room, a classical player or violin collector, repair person or enthusiast!
