We purchased 5 wonderful old original Esquire Magazine Cartoon posters years ago and they have been in our personal collection. They are large, bright and beautiful. We have never seen them offered anywhere before, and really know nothing of their past history. They are by well known forties Esquire graphic illustrators, all unsigned.
This poster may be by well known African American illustrator E. Simms Campbell, graphic designer, poster artist, and cartoon artist, as it resembles his Esquire and "Cuties" series work greatly. Do you know?
This poster shows a young pin up type sexy woman lying on a couch with her bookish banker or financial accountant husband next to her. Presumably she is asking him to embezzle money for her. He is saying, "I know darling...but the bank examiners are smart too!" There is liquor bottle on the art deco bar behind and a voluptuous bird painting behind them. The poster is archivally linen backed and ready for framing. A rare and uncommon piece. We only have this one.
