Regular price $0.00

1943 Mexico Antique Authentic Vintage Covarrubias Travel Poster

SOLD

This is a beautiful poster of a Mexican scene featuring beautiful children, and bright native scenes. It is dated 1943. The artwork and printing is wonderful and the scene is a classic art deco design with fonts, graphics, rich color and beautiful design to match.

The well known poster artist, graphic designer or illustrator is Miguel Covarrubias. Text on poster reads "Oaxaca, Mexico, Departmento De Turismo, de la Secretaria de Gobernacion, Asociacion Mexicana de Turismo, Mexico D.F."

Wiki says: Oaxaca, officially Free and Sovereign State of Oaxaca is one of the 31 states which, along with the Federal District, make up the 32 federative entities of Mexico. It is divided into 571 municipalities. Its capital city is Oaxaca de Juárez. It is located in Southwestern Mexico. The state is best known for its indigenous peoples and cultures. The most numerous and best known are the Zapotecs and the Mixtecs, but there are sixteen that are officially recognized. These cultures have survived better than most others in Mexico due to the state’s rugged and isolating terrain.

The poster was printed by the Mexican tourist bureau to encourage travel to Mexico. The poster is archivally linen backed and ready for framing. A condition,  a great find. We only have this one, and have never seen or had it before, freshly linen mounted.

Size: 27 × 34 inches
