This is a beautiful and original poster print, from the 1940's WWII era, printed by the famous Electric Boat Company of New York. These images were used as part of the large advertising campaign from many popular magazines of the day. It has vibrant and color and is in wonderful condition, linen mounted. Note: This is not a reprint, but an original.

The General Dynamics Electric Boat Company (GDEB) has been a builder of submarines and boats for the USN United States Navy for over 110 years, since 1899. The shipyard is located in Groton, Connecticut, Quonset Point, Rhode Island and New London, CT. These original WWII WW2 World war two era Elco poster prints are a set of beautiful images produced for the military war effort.

This image is entitled "Ebco Subs-Marine Assault on Makin Island" and is printed in lush blues and greens. It depicts an exciting scene of marines in tropical camouflage on life rafts, coming up from an American Submarine. At print bottom it reads "Up from the Sea in Subs."

The famous Makin Island Raid of August 1942 was an attack by the United States Marine Corps on Japanese military forces on Makin Island in the Pacific Ocean to destroy Japanese installations, take prisoners, gain intelligence, and divert Japanese attention and reinforcements from the Allied landings on Guadalcanal and Tulagi.
