Holiday was a famous old American travel magazine, published from 1928 to 1977. It was started by the American Automobile Association, and was purchased by the Curtis Publishing Company in 1945. Its circulation grew to over 1 million.
Text on this old ski poster reads: "Winter Life at its best: Stowe, in December Holiday Magazine, Do your Holiday Shopping in HOLIDAY" It shows an early skier in long wooden skis heading down the mountain in his head band and ski goggles.
Skiing at Stowe comprises two separate mountains: Mount Mansfield & Spruce Peak. The Vermont division of the CCC cut the first trails on Mount Mansfield in 1933 and the National Ski Patrol was based on the work of the Mount Mansfield Ski Patrol, which is the oldest ski patrol in America. A very cool small old piece we have never seen before. We only have this one.
