1964's John Coy Poster Sign from New York City Performance at 92Y
AGE: c. 1964 on thick white paper.
CONDITION: A-, very tiny creasing, nice!
We can find no info on this actual Manhattan dance company, but love the sixties graphics. A small horizontal piece which advertises a performance at the Theresa L. Kaufmann Concert hall at the famous 92nd street Ym-YwHA (Young Men's and Young Women's Hebrew Association) for Saturday, December 12th at 8:30 PM.
Found in Public Coy Genealogy Records: John Coy: Performer 1920-1973 (born Nov 20, 1920 Montreal, Quebec, Canada and died Nov 04, 1973 in the British West Indies) Note: He was also known as: Johnny Coy.
The dancers were John Coy, Eileen Cropley, Nancy Dalton, Judy Dearing, Stuart Dunsmore, Anthony LaGiglia and Anna Mittelholzer. Many became very well known in the dance world. They performed Abstract #1: Shadows, Vignettes: Untitled, and the Wanderer: Digit.
We only have this one. An uncommon collectible sixties piece, and rare. This is probably one of the very few copies in existence. Found in Kingston NY, Ulster County. We believe it to be from Saturday December 12, 1964.
Size: 12.5 × 7 inches
